For the Team…

Saturday, MAY 02:

The Team World Vision Lunch during the Runner Expo

Join us for a final pasta lunch with the whole OC World Vision crew before the big race! Lunch is at the OC Fairgrounds at 12:30 PM. The VIP tent we meet at will be slightly off the beaten path, but look for the World Vision flags likely near the “Lot A” of the Fairgrounds.

There are set to be World Vision Team Jerseys for sale during the lunch.

ALSO: you are required to pick up your race bib and packet either Friday or Saturday during the Runner Expo. Please make arrangements to do so.

Sunday, MAY 03:

The Half Marathon!

Meet at Fashion Island at 5:45 AM to take part in the World Vision team rally and prayer before the gun goes off at 6:30 AM!

Click here for all the Half Marathon details including maps, parking, bib tracking, what to do with personal items, etc.

Use this address for the meetup spot:
1001 Newport Center Dr.
Newport Beach, CA 92660

WEATHER: Sunday morning looks pleasant! Similar weather to this past Saturday’s morning run (around 60F with the slightest chance of light rain).

Team World Vision Run Info & FAQs

When/where is the race?

The OC Marathon and Half Marathon both take place on Sunday, MAY 03, 2026. The race starts at Fashion Island in Newport Beach and ends at the OC Fairgrounds.

What are the requirements for joining the team?

Everyone joining the team must be willing to…

1) Prepare and train for the Half Marathon or Marathon taking place MAY 03

2) Participate in fundraising for Team World Vision (see info below)

3) Purchase/own good running shoes.

How you do all this is up to you, however we highly recommend you join FCC’s fellowship-building group runs for encouragement and tips.

What’s training like?

FCC’s team will hold group-training sessions every Saturday morning leading up to the run (rain or shine) starting on JAN 03. Scroll up for info on each week’s Saturday group run.

Click here to check out the suggested “Couch to Finish Line” personal training schedule for the Half-Marathon.

Who are we raising money for?

We’re running with Team World Vision to help provide life-changing clean water to children and communities in the developing world.

More than 1,000 children under age 5 die every day due to illnesses caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and improper hygiene. But we believe the global water and sanitation crisis can be solved within our lifetimes.

$50 = clean water for 1 person

You can donate or join the team by clicking here.

When I signed up for the run, the minimum fundraising goal on the site was $2000. That’s a lot of money! Do I Have to raise that much?

The minimum $2000 goal is not a requirement, and you will not be penalized if you don’t reach that goal. The only requirement is that you try to raise as much as you can to help Team World Vision’s clean water initiatives.

If you are confident that you can easily blow past that $2000 goal, you are welcome to set your goal higher for the sake of your donors.

How much does it cost?

$70 discounted rate to register for the OC Half Marathon ($80 for the full Marathon) + $30 for the World Vision jersey. To take advantage of the Team World Vision discounted rate, join FCC’s running team by clicking here!

Is Running a Half Marathon difficult to do?

Pastor Travis has done it, so… no.

Kidding aside, this commitment involves training for and running a 13.1-mile race. As long as you are willing to do so, all ability levels are welcome to join us!

FOR REFERENCE: a fast walk at a 16 minute, 20 second average mile time will finish the Half Marathon in 3.5 hours.

I don’t know if I’m ready. Can I do this next year?

We can’t guarantee that FCC will participate in this race in 2027, so take advantage of the opportunity now!

If you are interested in running in 2027 and FCC does not end up joining, you are always welcome to join Team World Vision as an individual runner.

I am not able to run the 2026 half marathon, but I still want to support the team. How can I do that?

There are two ways to give to the cause. You can click here to support FCC’s team effort, or you can visit the Roster section of FCC’s team page to sponsor an individual runner.

The OC Marathon website says they do a 5k run. Can I do that instead?

Team World Vision does not participate on the day they do the OC 5k, so if you do that, it won’t be with FCC or Team World Vision.

This sounds awesome! Who can I talk to if I want to join or have more questions?

Great! You can sign up for FCC’s World Vision team directly by clicking the button below.

If you have questions, you can reach out to Pastor Travis by emailing travis@fccbrea.org or texting 714.515.8280.
